Man Utd forced into ‘next priority’ following decision to give Sancho big wages

Manchester United's agreement with Jadon Sancho has forced them into contract talks with Bruno Fernandes.

It comes after a £73m bid was accepted from Borussia Dortmund for the Englishman's services in a major coup for the club.

After being told they must fork out £109m last summer, United have whittled down the Bundesliga outfit by a considerable amount.

And Sancho is set to become one of the top earners at Old Trafford, going ahead of the likes of Marcus Rashford, Paul Pogba and Harry Maguire in the wage structure.

Another player the 21-year-old will leapfrog is Fernandes, who has undoubtedly been United's best player since his arrival in January 2020.

According to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the Red Devils have wasted no time in ramping up contract talks with the Portugal international.

He has become the main man at the club after racking up an astonishing 26 goals and 18 assists in the Premier League alone.

United were already in negotiations with the 26-year-old prior to the agreement with Sancho.

But the Camberwell-born ace's wages will no doubt play a role during the talks now, with Fernandes expecting pay parity.

However, after such a barnstorming start to his career at the club, the midfielder can be justified in asking for a bigger salary.

United have several transfer targets in mind as they look to bolster their squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been known to splash the cash since his arrival as manager following mega-money moves for the likes of Maguire, Fernandes and Amad.

And this summer looks to be no different after already agreeing a deal to land Sancho, which will likely be completed after the conclusion to Euro 2020.

Raphael Varane is being eyed for a move to the club amid reports he is looking to leave Real Madrid.

While Rennes star Eduardo Camavinga will almost certaintly leve his boyhood club this summer as he enters the final year of his contract.
