Man Utd flop gets huge ban for horrific challenge that left opponent in hospital
Manchester United loanee Eric Bailly has been handed a seven-game ban for his horror challenge which left an opponent hospitalised.
Bailly, who's spending the season with Ligue 1 side Marseille, was sent off in their Coupe de France clash with Hyeres earlier this month after his high boot connected with the chest of midfielder Almike Moussa N'Diaye.
While the Red Devils centre-back had an early bath, N'Diaye was taken to hospital where it was discovered he had several broken ribs. Bailly's suspension has now been upgraded from the usual three matches to more than double.

That news was not welcomed by Marseille, who felt the length was harsh considering he hadn't intended to injure N'Diaye. President Pablo Longoria was also unimpressed to hear about it second hand.
“If our player is truly suspended for seven games, it would above all be very serious if some people leaked this decision to the press without even bothering to having notified the sanction and warned the club concerned,” said Longoria. “It is a lack of respect.”

Manager Igor Tudor, who will be without Bailly for the next round of the cup against Rennes and a crucial league fixture versus Monaco, labelled the ban "excessive".
He argued: "I believe the punishment is excessive, but the decision has been made and there’s nothing we can do about it. We have the resources to play differently, we’ve already played two matches without him, tomorrow we’ll play another, and then there will only be four matches left.”
Bailly's United career looks to be all but over with Erik ten Hag deeming him surplus to requirements last summer. He's way down the defender pecking order.
But his contract at Old Trafford runs until 2024 having only signed a new deal in April 2021. A permanent move to Marseille could be on the cards, although he's done himself no favours getting banned.
