Man Utd fans spot "raging" Fernandes moment after star dropped by Carrick
Manchester United fans noticed Bruno Fernandes couldn't hide his fury at being dropped by caretaker manager Michael Carrick on Tuesday night.
The Red Devils ran out 2-0 winners over Villarreal to secure qualification to the Champions League last 16 thanks to strikes from Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
Three points in Europe were a much-needed boost after a run of one win in seven Premier League outings, the latest a 4-1 thrashing to Watford, saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer lose his job.
First-team coach Carrick has been placed in temporary charge as the club search for a new manager and his first act was to ring the changes ahead of United's crucial clash with Villarreal – most notably, dropping Fernandes.
The Portuguese star has looked out-of-sorts in recent weeks and cut a frustrated figure as he remonstrated with United's fans shortly after the full-time whistle at Vicarage Road on Saturday.
After Carrick opted to start with him on the bench in Spain, fans couldn't help but spot the passionate midfielder's response to being introduced into the game.
Fernandes came on for Donny van de Beek in the 66th minute and then, in stoppage time, played a superb ball into Marcus Rashford; a pass which was applauded by United fans.
But one supporter noted: "Bruno looked like he was raging internally the whole match for some reason," while others replied saying Fernandes "didn't take kindly to being benched" and "does not like being left out".

Despite coming on shortly after the hour mark and teeing up Sancho for his first United strike since making his £73million summer switch form Borussia Dortmund, fans commented on how Fernandes didn't appear his usual self.
One United fan wrote: "He didn't even celebrate the goals like he normally does," while another jokingly speculated that perhaps his apparent anger had been misinterpreted and was in fact sadness at seeing his old manager sacked on Sunday, claiming: "I think he misses Solskjaer."
As United prepare for the daunting prospect of facing Premier League table-toppers Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday, another fan expressed his admiration at Fernandes' response to being dropped ahead of the clash.
The fan stated: "I love a bit of anger in our players. It makes them ferocious on the pitch. I bet Roy Keane fancied seeing Bruno angry."
