Man Utd fans’ song for Ten Hag branded "monstrosity" as rivals laugh it up

Manchester United fans have been brutally mocked by their rivals online after a clip of their new song for incoming boss Erik ten Hag was shared on social media.

United confirmed that the Ajax chief is set to take over at the club in the summer after impressing the United hierarchy with his sterling work in Amsterdam. But the Dutchman has a huge task ahead of him at Old Trafford in the wake of United's shocking season.

It appears as though the 52-year-old is a popular choice on the terraces at least, with United fans showing their support for their new gaffer with a brand new song ahead of Monday night's 3-0 win over Brentford. But unfortunately, the uninventive chant has been branded a "monstrosity" by rival fans.

The chant, which sees United fans counting up from 'One Hag' all the way up to 'Ten Hag', has been brutally torn to shreds online, with one fan even tweeting: "Worst football chant in history goes to this monstrosity".

Another cheeky poster used it to make light of Liverpool's new Beatles-inspired chant for Jurgen Klopp, quipping: "Okay I’ve changed my mind from the Klopp one. This is the worst f****** thing I’ve ever seen," while another fan reacted by posting: "This lot had the audacity to slate the new Jurgen chant hahahahahaha".

The chant was even slammed by United fans, with one making light of the half-hearted protest attempts during Monday night's game, tweeting: "Between this and the “walkout” honestly as well just liquidate at this stage," while another went one further by posting: "I’m out. Season ticket for sale, I can’t associate myself with this".

Although United have become a bit of a laughing stock on the pitch this season, it was a rough night on the terraces for United fans, who were also savaged for their half-hearted protests against the Glazer family during the match.

But they were at least finally given something to cheer about at Old Trafford as they watched United cruise to a comprehensive 3-0 win over the Bees.

Goals from Bruno Fernandes, Cristiano Ronaldo and Raphael Varane were enough to seal an emphatic home win for interim chief Ralf Rangnick, who signed off with the biggest result of his uninspiring reign.
