Manchester United fans have piled blame onto Scott McTominay and Fred for their role in Liverpool’s defeat at Old Trafford.

The ‘McFred’ combo often come under fire from Red Devils’ fans, with more criticism thrown their way after Naby Keita’s fifth minute goal.

Jurgen Klopp’s side easily broke down United with a series of quick passes to put themselves ahead early on, before it finished 5-0.

This left some supporters raging on social media after Liverpool completely bypassed the midfield, with Mohamed Salah having plenty of time and space to slot the ball through for the assist.

One fan wrote: “Ole out, can’t keep picking McFred, then having no tactics. I’m glad we’re losing.”

Another agreed: “McFred is letting Keita have the freedom of Old Trafford.”

Meanwhile someone else questioned how a World Cup winner had been left out in favour for McTominay and Fred.

They wrote: “How can you start McFred and bench (Paul) Pogba against Liverpool?"

Another agreed: “The boss loves McFred and is trying to push Pogba to the exit, unfortunately for him, he’ll be the one saying goodbye.”

Meanwhile, one person believed criticism should be directed elsewhere, stating: “Blaming McFred, but Maguire is so much worse, I don’t know how you guys don’t see that.”

Things continued to get worse for United throughout the first half, as pressure rises on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Eight minutes after the opener, Diogo Jota made it 0-2 for the visiting side.
