Manchester United fans have been venting their anger on social media after seeing Cristiano Ronaldo named among the substitutes for their match against Everton. Ronaldo has proven to be an instant hero since making his return to Old Trafford this summer.

The Portuguese superstar scored twice on his second debut against Newcastle and has fired in five goals in all competitions so far.

There was some questions heading into the game on whether Ronaldo would start having played over 180 minutes of action in the past seven days.

And Solskjaer did admit last month that he would need to manage Ronaldo’s minutes going forward.

But United fans have still be left flabbergasted that Ronaldo was left out of the starting line-up against Everton.

@Zubby_44 tweeted: “Why would you bench your best player?

@Ranny_ft fumed: “LOSING TODAY for benching Ronaldo.”

@FourFourJordan simply wrote: “WHAT.”

@MichaelAter5 said: “What the hell is going on. Where is Ronaldo?”
