Man Utd fans fume at "corrupt" decision as Wan-Bissaka ban extended by UEFA
Manchester United fans have been left outraged by UEFA’s decision to extend Aaron Wan-Bissaka’s ban by an additional game.
The right-back received a straight sending off in the Red Devils’ 2-1 group stage loss to BSC Young Boys in the Champions league for a high tackle which struck Christopher Martins Pereira’s ankle.
The red card meant Wan-Bissaka was set to miss United’s Wednesday evening fixture against Villarreal but UEFA have since opted to give the Englishman an additional one-match ban on top of his initial suspension.
News of the suspension comes as a shock to United fans, especially after Manchester City’s Kevin De Bruyne was only awarded a yellow for what some claim was a similar challenge in the clash against Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday.
And the United faithful have made their anger known on social media, reacting to the decision on Wednesday by UEFA’s Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body which deemed the tackle ‘rough play’.
One fan wrote on Twitter: “Are UEFA having a laugh!!! They extend Wan-Bissaka’s red card suspension to two games the day after letting De Bruyne get off with a yellow for the same tackle.”
Another disgusted supporter said: “Time for @UEFA to be vocal and explain why the Wan-Bissaka challenge was a deemed rough play but Kevin De Bruyne’s was not.
“The De Bruyne challenge was far worse."

Meanwhile, other fans have accused the governing body of being “corrupt” and a “joke of an institution.”
Portuguese international Diogo Dalot is expected to cover for Wan-Bissaka as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prepares for the Champions League matches against Villarreal and Atalanta.
The United boss is under tremendous pressure to win his next two European fixtures after failing to pick up points against the weakest team in the group.
Solskjaer’s side have suffered a slump in form since their defeat against the Swiss club, which has seen fans call for the Norwegian’s sacking on social media.
