Man Utd fans can’t work out whether Darwin Nunez suspension is good or bad

Darwin Nunez will miss Liverpool's trip to Old Trafford next week – though Manchester United fans can't work out how to feel about it.

The Uruguayan was sent off for headbutting Crystal Palace's Joachim Andersen in a moment of madness as the Reds lost more ground in the title race with their second draw in as many games, having been held by Fulham on the opening weekend.

Nunez will now have to sit out Liverpool's next three matches in a massive blow to Jurgen Klopp, though United supporters on social media aren't so sure that his absence will disadvantage their opponents in six days' time.

"No Nunez vs United. Things couldn't get any worse for us," one Red Devils fan joked, while another tweeted: "Liverpool to play Man United without Darwin Nunez.. Don't even know if that's good news."

A third said: "No Nunez against United next week. Advantage Liverpool." A fourth agreed, responding: "We should appeal the red card!"

Nunez has had a mixed start to his Liverpool career thus far. He was ridiculed during pre-season, particularly during Liverpool's 4-0 thrashing at the hands of United, for scuffing shots and misplacing passes, but his form picked up when the season began.

He netted a crucial goal against Manchester City to help Liverpool win the Community Shield before scoring on his Premier League debut against Fulham, though his red against Palace will sever the momentum he'd built up.

Erik ten Hag's United meanwhile have made a catastrophic start to the new campaign. An opening day defeat to Brighton was followed up by a 4-0 mauling at the hands of Brentford and there are concerns that a heavy defeat to Liverpool could put Ten Hag's future at the club in jeopardy.
