Man Utd fans blame trio’s pathetic roles in goal from shot ‘slower than death’
Manchester United fans have raged at their team for the sloppy opening goal they conceded against Brighton.
In the Premier League clash at the Amex, Moises Caicedo earned his first goal for the Seagulls to put them 1-0 up against United. But fans of the northwest side were beside themselves with frustration over the poor defending from Scott McTominay and Victor Lindelof – as well as the goalkeeping of David de Gea.
One remarked: “That shot is slower than death.” Another said: “De Gea beaten at near post from 30 yards when he was standing on that post.”
A third wrote: “Went through the legs of McTominay and Lindelof.” Someone said: “Man United don’t want to be there and they are playing like it. This maybe the absolute worse they have looked this season.”

One summarised: “Sticks hands behind back to stop giving away handball penalty. Forgets to close legs so balls foes through them into the net. United are the gift that keeps on giving.”
A last one wrote: “How does a goalkeeper (the only player that can use their hands to touch the ball), watch a ball fly in the air for 2+ seconds and still stick to his line instead of claiming it. Please, can someone genuinely enlighten me as to why he's seen as a top GK. Absolute joke.”
United will miss out on a top-four finish in the Premier League at the end of the season, meaning that they will not be in the Champions League for new manager Erik ten Hag’s first campaign.
Despite earning a runners-up finish last season under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the side have endured a terrible season in which they are struggling to even get a Europa League place.
