Man Utd fans beg Fernandes to ‘rest’ after seeing how much he played this season
Manchester United fans have begged Bruno Fernandes ‘to rest’ before the new season after his staggering amount of minutes was highlighted.
Fernandes, 28, was a vital piece of United’s jigsaw yet again throughout the 2022/23 season with his impact on the side often going under the radar.
The Portuguese creator lit up the Premier League upon his arrival in 2020 when he registered 15 goal involvements in 14 league games over the back end of the 2019/20 campaign.
But despite this season being his lowest scoring league campaign at Old Trafford, Fernandes’ influence couldn’t be more obvious under Ten Hag.

Fernandes has played the most games and minutes of any player playing in the top tier in the world. The midfielder has played an incredible 6,000 minutes across 70 games this season – playing 59 times for United and 11 times for his country.
The United ace has played three games more than anyone else on the planet this season – with Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva playing 67 games each.

Making Fernandes' numbers even more staggering considering both players played in the Champions League final, whilst United were knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Europa League by Sevilla.
After Portugal’s 1-0 Euro qualifying win against Iceland, which brought up Fernandes’ 70th appearance of the season, United fans took to social media to urge their main creator to rest up and return fully fit ahead of next season. One fan commented: “They should allow this man rest.”
A second said: “He’s so underrated for his work rate and that’s by his own fans as well.” A third commented. “Might pay for this next season. He is only human."
Whilst a fourth quipped about Fernandes’ play acting, saying: “Tbf he spends half of each game on the floor so he gets plenty of rest.”
Fernandes missed just one league game all season for United due to a yellow card suspension, seeing United produce one of their worst first-half performances of the season in a 3-1 defeat against Aston Villa in his absence.
He also only missed one game due to suspension in United’s Europa League campaign – the 3-0 hammering that saw them knocked out by Sevilla in the second-leg.
Fernandes has an incredibly immaculate injury record throughout his career, but time will tell whether these minutes eventually take their toll on him.
