Man Utd eyeing up three centre-backs with Kim Min-jae to join Bayern Munich
Man Utd's Old Trafford in focus
Manchester United have reportedly identified three centre-backs in their quest to strengthen their backline this summer as boss Erik ten Hag attempts to build a squad that can compete for silverware on all fronts next season. The Red Devils had appeared to be the frontrunners to sign the in-demand Kim Min-jae – but the Napoli star now looks set to put pen to paper on a deal with Bayern Munich instead.
United enjoyed an improved season under Ten Hag last time around and secured a return to the Champions League after finishing third in the Premier League table. The Red Devils also lifted the Carabao Cup and reached the final of the FA Cup.
But Ten Hag will be well aware that he needs to bolster his team in key positions to kick on once again next season. And, according to transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Monaco star Axel Disasi remains a concrete name on United’s shortlist, while the club have also sent scouts to follow Nice ace Jean Clair Todibo multiple times. Meanwhile, Ajax maestro Jurrien Timber remains a target after his mentor Ten Hag tried to bring him to England 12 months ago.
Disasi appeared in all 38 of Monaco’s Ligue 1 matches last season and helped his side finish sixth in the table. The 25-year-old, who played every minute of Monaco’s Europa League campaign, was handed his France debut during last year’s World Cup and came on as a late substitute in the final as his country went down to Argentina.

Todibo played in 34 Ligue 1 matches as Nice finished ninth and was a key player as his team progressed to the quarter-finals of the Europa League before succumbing to Basel. But United have not made a final decision on whether they will submit an offer for the 23-year-old.
Meanwhile, Timber was reportedly being eyed up by Ten Hag last summer but ultimately ended up staying in Holland for another season. The 22-year-old was an ever-present in the Eredivisie last season but was unable to prevent Ajax suffering a Ten Hag hangover as they missed out on the title by 13 points.

Ten Hag will need to be confident that his three targets are up to playing in the Premier League before he puts forward offers as he will want to avoid spending prodigious amounts of cash on players who aren’t suited to the pace and power of the division.
South Korea international Kim Min-jae, 26, appears to be the sort of player who could’ve excelled in England. However, reports are indicating he is on the verge of penning a five-year deal with Bayern after starring during Napoli’s charge to their first Serie A title for 33 years.
