Maguire lost his place in Erik ten Hag’s side before the World Cup but suggested he could force his way back into the team as he helped England reach the quarter-finals in Qatar.
Ten Hag still appears to have doubts over the 29-year-old, however, and picked Luke Shaw as a makeshift centre-back in United’s recent wins over Nottingham Forest and Wolves.
Despite Maguire’s fall from grace, Manchester United are adamant he will not leave Old Trafford this month and will make a decision over his long-term future at the end of the season, according to the Daily Mail.
Maguire has been linked with multiple Premier League clubs in recent weeks and is unlikely to settle for a reduced role at United, who made him the most expensive defender in history when they signed him from Leicester City in 2019.
While Manchester United are not looking to sell Maguire in January, they could still sign a new centre-back and are eyeing a move for Monaco’s Disasi.
Disasi, 24, has played more than 100 games for Ligue 1 outfit Monaco and made three appearances for France at the recent World Cup.
He is expected to move to a bigger club either this month or at the end of the season, with United’s Premier League rivals West Ham and Tottenham also monitoring his situation.
Meanwhile, former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand urged Maguire to leave Old Trafford after he was omitted from the line-up for their Premier League win over Wolves.
Speaking on BT Sport, Ferdinand said: ‘It raised eyebrows when you saw Lindelof and Maguire on the bench – it shows what Ten Hag thinks of those two guys!
‘This new manager is showing him he’s not going to be one of the top two centre backs. I’d be telling my agent to go and find me a new club where I can play regularly and enjoy my football.’
