Manchester United have received a huge boost over their reported pursuit of Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane. Varane has apparently decided he wants to move to the Premier League this summer.

United are set for a busy summer transfer window.

The Red Devils want to bring in a new centre-back and centre-forward in order to help Ole Gunnar Solskjaer build a Premier League title-winning side.

It has been reported that funds will still be fairly strict, so a more expensive signing in one position could lead to a bargain in the other.

One bargain could come in the form of Varane, as the French centre-back has apparently told Madrid he wants to leave.

The 2018 World Cup-winner is under contract until 2022, and reportedly has no interest in signing a new deal.

As a result, Madrid could be forced to sell him this summer rather than risk losing him for free next year.

Varane is widely regarded as one of the best centre-backs in the world, so there will be no shortage of teams after him.

However, reports suggest Varane has decided he wants to move to the Premier League.

Spanish outlet AS claims Varane has decided he will be happiest playing in England.

United apparently view Varane as their dream signing this summer, though Liverpool are also keen.

Madrid seem resigned to losing the 27-year-old, and are already looking at replacements.

Sevilla ace Jules Kounde and Napoli’s Kalidou Koulibaly have both been looked at as potential targets.

The Spanish giants have also been in talks with Bayern Munich’s David Alaba for some time now.

The Austrian will leave the European champions this summer, and is expected to head to the Bernabeu at the end of his contract.

Solskjaer also has a number of centre-back options, with Kounde, Tyrone Bings and Nikola Milenkovic on his radar.

Kounde could be a potential alternative to Varane, considering his £69million release clause.
