Manchester United ace Diogo Dalot is reportedly looking for a new club, despite becoming first-choice right-back for his team this year. Juventus are said to be interested in signing the 23-year-old, who joined the Red Devils from Porto in 2018. And Express Sport takes a look at four alternative right-backs United boss Erik ten Hag could now target in January.

Denzel Dumfries

United were reportedly interested in signing Denzel Dumfries from Inter Milan in the summer, despite the fact the 26-year-old only moved to Italy a year earlier. But Dumfries ultimately stayed at the San Siro and has started 10 of his side’s 12 matches this term.

The Red Devils may up the ante in January, however, if they fear they will lose Dalot and could put an offer on the table that Inter can’t refuse. Dumfries has won 37 caps for the Netherlands and would surely jump at the opportunity of linking up with compatriot Ten Hag in England.

Benjamin Pavard

Benjamin Pavard has become a key player for Bayern Munich since joining them from German rivals Stuttgart in 2019 and was another target of Ten Hag’s a few months ago. The 26-year-old is viewed among the best right-backs in Europe – so Ten Hag could offer him a hefty pay packet in an attempt to lure him to the Premier League.

Pavard, who has won three Bundesliga titles as well as the Champions League and Club World Cup during his time at the Allianz Arena, is a player who possesses plenty of football intelligence. So he could well excel if he makes the transition to the Premier League.

Max Aarons

One player who already has Premier League experience is Norwich right-back Max Aarons. The 22-year-old has made 70 appearances in the top-flight, with all of those coming for his current employers. United were said to be weighing up a swap deal with Ethan Laird to take Aarons to Old Trafford in the summer after Norwich were relegated to the Championship. But if Ten Hag truly believes the player can do a job at the top of the game, he could stump up the necessary cash next year to prise him away from Carrow Road.

Achraf Hakimi

If Ten Hag would prefer a player who has already shown they can do the business on the biggest stages of all, he could turn his attentions to Paris Saint-Germain right-back Achraf Hakimi. The 23-year-old Morocco international enjoyed spells with Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Inter before his move to France.

And he won the Champions League and Club World Cup during his time in Spain. So Ten Hag could reignite the interest he showed in the player in the summer and look to get a deal over the line as soon as he can to ensure a Dalot departure doesn’t prove to be a huge hinderance.
