Manchester United could earn around £23m by the end of next season if all goes to plan. Lazio are keen on bringing Andreas Pereira back on loan to the club despite a tough year in Serie A but the Red Devils are playing hardball.

United could earn up to £23m in a delayed windfall to the transfer funds by the end of the season next year.

It comes as negotiations rattle on between the club and Lazio over the signing of Pereira.

The Brazilian’s career at Old Trafford appears like it could be over after falling out of favour under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The midfielder looked like he could be a key part of the team under Jose Mourinho but the signing of Bruno Fernandes has all but ended his chances in the first-team.

However, United are in no mood to let the 25-year-old leave for pennies and have slapped a whopping £23m price tag on him.

The playmaker spent last season on loan to Lazio, who had a rollercoaster of a season after falling in and out of favour.

But with Simone Inzaghi now in charge of Inter Milan, the Rome-based outfit have turned to ex-Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri.

And the Italian wants to see more of Pereira at the Stadio Olimpico – but United are not making it easy.

According to Corriere Della Serra, via Sport Witness, Lazio have taken important steps towards securing a deal for the Red Devils ace.

Club director Igli Tare is in constant contact with United to try and land him on a new loan transfer until the end of the season.

The original deal included a buying option worth €27m (£23m) but Lazio want a lower total in case they decide to snap him up.

But United are not budging and have told the Serie A outfit that the price will remain to same.

If that clause is triggered, it would provide Solskjaer with a tasty bumper to his transfer funds next summer.

The club are already pursuing some expensive deals this year, with Jadon Sancho close to agreeing a move.

As well as the Borussia Dortmund star, there are also plans in place to sign Real Madrid defender Raphael Varane.
