Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta reviews the Nottingham Forest game

Manchester City awake this morning knowing they are Premier League champions for the third successive season. And with the top-four and relegation battles also almost sewn up, the focus will very soon turn toward the summer transfer window ahead of the 2023/24 campaign.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, City, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are expected to be among the busy clubs this summer.

And it could be a headline-stealing window across Europe, too, with seven-time Ballon d’Or winner Lionel Messi on the market as a free agent.

Man Utd and Chelsea in Vlahovic battle

Manchester United and Chelsea have joined Bayern Munich in the race for Dusan Vlahovic, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Rumours of Chelsea submitting a formal bid have been refuted, but they reportedly ‘appreciate’ the Juventus star, with all interested parties waiting to find out whether the Bianconeri would be open to selling.

The former Fiorentina striker has scored 14 goals in all competitions this season, and at only 23 years old, he is tipped for a bright future.

Moyes coy over Declan Rice future

West Ham manager David Moyes shied away from transfer speculation involving his captain, Declan Rice, after his side notched a 3-1 comeback win over Leeds United on Sunday.

Rice himself got on the scoresheet from midfield, and many expect him to leave the London Stadium this summer amid links to several Premier League heavyweights.

However, when asked after the game about Rice’s future, Moyes told reporters: “Declan played very well today. He’s been playing well all season, he scored a really good goal. He played well, he’s a very, very good footballer.”

De Jong makes feelings clear

Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has once again made his feelings clear on joining Manchester United ahead of the forthcoming summer transfer window.

The Red Devils went all out to sign him 12 months ago but came up short, with De Jong putting his foot down and staying at the Nou Camp.

“The club was in a difficult situation and they could have sold me for a big fee,” he told NOS. “But I didn’t want to go and stayed.

“Manchester United spoke with Barca, even though I wanted to stay. I want to be at Barca for as long as I can.”

Arteta plans Ben White reshuffle

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta will listen to offers for Rob Holding this summer, according to transfer expert Pete O’Rourke.

The Gunners manager wants to strengthen in central defeat, and he plans to do so by shifting Ben White in from right-back.

That would leave Arteta with a gap to fill on the right-hand side, and Ajax’s Devyne Rensch has been touted as a potential target.

Liverpool ramp up Ugarte efforts

Liverpool have sent scouts to watch Sporting Lisbon midfielder Manuel Ugarte this weekend, according to reports from Portugal.

The Portuguese giants face Benfica in a mouth-watering clash on Sunday night, with the Reds set to get a good sense of what the 22-year-old is made of.

Ugarte’s agent has already hinted that an exit is on the cards this summer, with Chelsea and Aston Villa also believed to be interested.

Garnacho ‘upset five clubs’

Alejandro Garnacho reportedly upset five clubs by signing a new long-term contract at Manchester United.

In April, Garnacho committed his future at Old Trafford until 2028 after a breakthrough season under Erik ten Hag.

And GiveMeSport report that a group of clubs were courting him before his decision to stay in Manchester.

La Liga pair Barcelona and Real Madrid join Bayern Munich, Inter Milan and Juventus in being mentioned.

Chelsea prefer Onana to Raya

Chelsea reportedly want a new goalkeeper this summer.

And GiveMeSport journalist claims Mauricio Pochettino would prefer Inter Milan’s Andre Onana over Brentford’s David Raya.

He said: “Raya looks pretty certain to move, and now that Brentford are making new goalkeeper plans, it’s just a case of finding his new home.

“Chelsea’s move for a goalkeeper is something that Mauricio Pochettino wants, but they will have to resolve the situation first in-house as they have two big names in Kepa and Mendy.

“Mendy seems the one most likely to. He’s more attainable financially and easier to gauge interest in, sources have told me, but that still could take some time.

“From conversations I’ve had with contacts, it feels like their interest in Raya is legit, but I also think they prefer Andre Onana, just as Tottenham do.

“It’s very early days, but it’s not beyond imagination that Raya simply ends up signing for whichever team Onana doesn’t choose to join.”

Gundogan set for City stay

Ilkay Gundogan is reportedly set to snub Barcelona to extend his contract at Manchester City beyond the summer.

The 32-year-old midfielder was expected to leave the Etihad Stadium on a free transfer after Barca laid a two-year deal with the option of a further year on the table.

However, The Times report City are now prepared to offer longer terms than just one year, which has prompted a change of heart.

Pellistri in United contract talks

Facundo Pellistri is reportedly set to commit his future to Manchester United.

According to Fabrizio Romano, United are in advanced talks with Pellistri over a new contract until 2028.

The 21-year-old winger could have a future in Erik ten Hag’s plans despite limited minutes this season.

Mac Allister ‘will sign for Liverpool’

Liverpool have reportedly reached an agreement to sign Brighton midfielder Alexis Mac Allister this summer.

TyC Sports claim the Reds have struck a deal worth around £70million for Mac Allister.

It’s expected to be the start of a summer of recruitment at Anfield, with Jurgen Klopp needing to freshen up his squad.

Villa plot Real double swoop

Aston Villa want to sign Real Madrid duo Dani Ceballos and Marcos Asensio this summer.

According to Foot Mercato, Unai Emery is pushing the club to recruit the two Spaniards after his successful first season.

Villa are gearing up to play Europa Conference League football next term, knowing a final-day win over Brighton would secure seventh.

However, while a big offer has been made to Ceballos, Asensio’s priority would be to extend his contract at Real.

Wright has Arsenal faith

Ian Wright has faith in Edu and Mikel Arteta to be laying the groundwork for a successful summer.

Arsenal’s recruitment was a major factor in their Premier League title challenge this season.

And Wright is confident Edu and Arteta will be working hard to get it right again to battle Manchester City again next term.

He said: “You know the levels they’re [City] setting, that’s why it’s a tough job for Arsenal, it’s going to be so hard.

“But I think Edu and Mikel are all over it in trying to bring the kind of player who can sustain a challenge.”

Todd Boehly’s Chelsea promise

Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly has promised Sporting CP that they will receive a concrete proposal for Manuel Ugarte this summer.

The Uruguayan midfielder is strongly linked with an exit, and Liverpool are also said to be interested.

According to Record, Chelsea have emerged as a new runner in the race for Ugarte’s signature.

Meetings have been scheduled for next week to draw out Ugarte’s future.

Tottenham eye £10m deal

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy is keen to secure Clement Lenglet’s services on a permanent basis this summer.

According to AS, Levy wants Lenglet to stay regardless of who Spurs appoint as their new coach.

And Barcelona are said to be ‘rubbing their hands together’ at the prospect of boosting Xavi’s transfer budget by offloading the Frenchman.

He is expected to be available for £10.4m.

Man Utd’s three priorities

Manchester United’s three position priorities in the summer transfer window have emerged.

According to the Mail, an elite striker is far and away at the top of Erik ten Hag’s wishlist. It’s no secret at this point.

Another midfielder is said to be his second priority, with links with Juventus’ Adrien Rabiot recently resurfacing.

United would likely have to target a budget option rather than Frenkie de Jong or Declan Rice without player sales.

And a centre-back is also on Ten Hag’s radar ahead of Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Eric Bailly and Harry Maguire’s expected summer exits.

Interest in Napoli’s Kim Min-jae is reportedly rife.
