Manchester United are considering a TV interview with Mason Greenwood – despite protests expected at their opening Premier League game with Wolves.

Greenwood has been suspended by the club since January 2022 after he was charged with attempted rape, assault and controlling and coercive behaviour. However, those charges were dropped by the Crown Prosecution Service in February.

United have since opened their own internal investigation into Greenwood’s future at Old Trafford. But a recent report states United will further delay a decision on his future, until the Lionesses are back from the Women's World Cup.

According to The Athletic, if Greenwood is allowed to remain at United, they will phase him back into the first team.

Greenwood will receive counselling, and he might be put in front of cameras for an interview that will be broadcast on TV – where he would be challenged about the events.

However, a group of United fans are planning a protest about the potential return of Greenwood ahead of their clash with Wolves on Monday evening.

The group – who have branded themselves 'Female Fans Against Greenwood's Return' (FFAGR) – have pledged to protest against a potential return. "It tells us that men who make the club money matter; not us, our fellow fans, mothers, sisters or daughters.

"The problem here isn't a player who has 'made a mistake'," the statement read. "It's a player who has shown nothing but disregard and contempt for what it means to represent this great club.

"Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone does so while in the position of power and privilege Greenwood is. If you want to play at the highest level at the biggest club in the world, your behaviour will be held up to the highest level of scrutiny, accountability and expectation."
