Man Utd chiefs sent transfer message by Fernandes as Harry Kane move uncertain
Erik ten Hag reviews Man Utd's win against Fulham
Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes has pitched Portugal team-mate Goncalo Ramos as a potential new signing for the Red Devils. United are likely to sign a new striker this summer and have been strongly linked with a move for Harry Kane.
However, Fernandes believes Ramos has ‘all the qualities’ to stand out in the Premier League for the Old Trafford outfit. The Benfica star rose to prominence at the World Cup, replacing the dropped Cristiano Ronaldo and scoring a hat-trick in Portugal’s 6-1 win over Switzerland.
Ramos has shone at club level over the last two seasons. The 21-year-old struck 27 goals across all competitions in 2022-23, including 19 league goals for champions Benfica.
And United midfielder Fernandes believes Ramos would be an excellent addition to Erik ten Hag’s squad.

“The best always come in handy, be it Goncalo or another player. He has all the qualities to play in the Premier League, and when I say Premier League I also mean Manchester United,” the 28-year-old told A Bola.
“I think he could become a great reference in the coming years, but it’s still not in my hands to be sports director. Goncalo has all the conditions to play in the Premier League, he is very intense, presses very well and is very good inside the area.”
Fernandes added that Ramos surprised his Portugal team-mates with his performances in Qatar. The former Sporting Lisbon ace believes the time is now right for the striker to prove his worth in a ‘more competitive league’.
He continued: “He surprised me in the national team, not only me but the rest of my team-mates. He’s physically strong, he’s still young and he’s going to get better.

Harry Kane will ‘only choose Man Utd’ as Daniel Levy left with transfer dilemma[LATEST]
“If he continues to work as he has been doing, I think he has the potential to be one of the best strikers in the world. But he needs to go to a more competitive league to prove it.”
United are believed to be interested in signing England captain Kane. However, Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is reportedly desperate to keep the 29-year-old in North London for another season.
Kane has a year remaining on his Spurs contract and, according to the Sun, would be willing to run down his deal to leave on a free transfer next summer. The Three Lions’ record scorer would apparently only want to leave for United ahead of the 2023-24 season.
