Man Utd chief Ed Woodward to offer ‘olive branch’ to Paul Pogba and Mino Raiola
Man Utd: Pogba hones skills amid exit talk
Manchester United executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward is preparing to enter contract talks with Paul Pogba and his agent Mino Raiola, according to reports. Pogba has long been linked with a move away from Old Trafford, with his current deal set to expire in the summer of 2022. Raiola stated in early December that his client is unhappy at United and has to leave the club.
But it appears United have not given up hope of keeping the France star in the long term.
Pogba has started four of United’s last five matches in all competitions after a spell earlier this season where he was often used as a substitute by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And transfer expert Ian McGarry says Woodward is ready to offer the 27-year-old the chance to commit his future to the Red Devils.
McGarry says United also want to protect Pogba’s value and avoid losing him for a much lower price than the £89million they spent on him in 2016.

He said on the Transfer Window podcast: “It is our understanding here at TWP that United are prepared to offer an olive branch to Pogba and his agent, Mino Raiola, who we know has caused all sorts of rancor and problems for the club and it’s administrators over Pogba and his contract situation.
“Remember he has 18 months left on his current deal.
“However, it appears that in Ed Woodward’s normal modus operandi, where he likes to tie players down to longer contracts, even if they’re not playing regularly in the first team in order to preserve their value, they’re willing to just take a little hit on their pride and make an offer to Mino Raiola to come in and discuss an extended deal for Pogba, rather than risk losing a lot of the equity that they invested in the player when they bought him for a then record from Juventus.”

Pogba could not prevent United losing a fourth semi-final in a row under Solskjaer on Wednesday, when his team went down 2-0 against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup.
After the match, the midfielder appeared to take a subtle dig at Solskjaer’s tactics after both of City’s goals came from set pieces.
“It is about details,” Pogba said.
“Details make the difference all of the time and now when it is big games like this, it is details and at set-pieces we lost [from].
“We have to learn because it is not the first time. We have to learn.
“We have to get through this as well. Then after this there are big games coming up so after tonight we go again.”
