Manchester United technical director Darren Fletcher has reportedly refused to stop his twin sons from signing professional contracts for rivals Manchester City. Jack and Tyler Fletcher, who will turn 16 this season, are already part of the City academy and are said to be highly regarded at the club.
Fletcher joined United as a player in 2000 and spent 15 years at the club before moving to West Brom on a free transfer. The ex-midfielder won five Premier League titles and the Champions League during his decade-and-a-half at Old Trafford, where he also lifted the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and three League Cups.
After finishing his playing career with Stoke in 2019, the 38-year-old headed back to Old Trafford in 2020 as assistant manager of the youth team. And he then became the first-team’s No 2 for a short period before being given his current role.
Despite his affiliation with the Red Devils, Fletcher sent his sons to play for the Citizens. And, according to the Daily Mail, the youngsters are now expected to sign professional deals at the Etihad Stadium. Jack and Tyler have starred for City through the age groups and have been offered one-year scholarship deals, which would then convert into professional terms for a further three seasons.
