Man Utd carnage continues as Richard Arnold pushes John Murtough into action
Man Utd have wasted well over £600m under Glazers as Jadon Sancho 'set to leave'
Manchester United chief Richard Arnold has reportedly ordered John Murtough to find a solution between Erik ten Hag and Jadon Sancho in yet another unexpected twist to the tale. The latter found himself in hot water before the international break after accusing Ten Hag of lying over the reasons for his absence from United’s squad against Arsenal.
Ten Hag explained that Sancho was fully fit to play against the Gunners but was omitted due to his displays in training, a claim that was strongly refuted by the player himself. The outburst was said to have infuriated Ten Hag and Murtough has since been dragged into the saga in an attempt to find a speedy resolution, according to the Daily Mail.
It is said that Arnold has directed Murtough to intervene with the aim of solving the issues between Ten Hag and Sancho as quickly as possible. There is said to be no sign that either party will drop their grievances as things stand, with Arnold hoping to speed up the process by ordering Murtough to patch things up.
Sancho recently deleted a post on X, formerly Twitter, in which he claimed that he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ for United’s problems and accused Ten Hag of not being entirely truthful. His decision to delete the post came as a hint that progress was being made behind the scenes, but it remains to be seen if he will be able to work his way back into United’s squad over the coming weeks.

Ten Hag, meanwhile, is yet to speak publicly on the matter since explaining his reasons for leaving Sancho out of the squad that lost to Arsenal earlier this month. He is likely to be quizzed on the topic in Friday’s press conference before United face Brighton in the Premier League the following afternoon.
The Dutchman was said to have felt particularly let down by Sancho’s outburst given the lengths he went to in his efforts to help the forward last season, according to The Telegraph. Sancho was given time off to work on his physical and mental condition in a bid to recover his best form and confidence but is yet to repay the favour by performing well enough on the pitch.

It has also been reported by The Athletic that Sancho left many of his team-mates frustrated due to his ‘sluggishness in training’ and punctuality issues. United were said to have responded by giving him a schedule one hour ahead of everybody else, which initially worked wonders before he fell back into ‘familiar patterns’.
Only time will tell if Murtough can resolve the situation over the coming days, with Sancho’s long-term future at United still very much up in the air. The Red Devils were reportedly willing to listen to offers for him during the summer window, with interest reportedly having come from Saudi Arabia, but no serious bids arrived and he ultimately ended up staying in Manchester.
Sancho is not Ten Hag’s only problem at the top of the pitch, with Antony having been given a period of leave after being placed under police investigation in the UK and his native Brazil. His ex-girlfriend Gabriela Cavallin recently alleged that he assaulted her on multiple occasions, while two other women have since come forward with accusations of their own. He has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
