Ex-Manchester United star Dimitar Berbatov has labelled the clubs exit from Europe as "embarrassing".
Erik ten Hag's side were dumped out of Europe in midweek after losing 1-0 to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, a result that saw them finish bottom of their group behind both Copenhagen and Galatasaray – meaning they will also not drop into the Europa League either.
The defeat to Bayern and exit from the Champions League has heaped more pressure upon the Dutchman, with United having only picked up one victory in Europe this term which came in a 1-0 win over Copenhagen, a game that they need Andre Onana to save an injury-time penalty in to preserve all three points at Old Trafford.

On Sunday, United return to action in the Premier League when they travel to Anfield to take on Liverpool, where they will be without skipper Bruno Fernandes and potentially defenders Luke Shaw and Harry Maguire.
And speaking to Betfair following the disastrous result in Europe on Tuesday night, ex-Premier League ace Dimitar Berbatov has called United's performances on the continent, and exit from Europe, as 'embarrassing'.

"The performances based on results were not good enough," Berbatov, who scored 56 goals in 149 games during his time at the club, told Betfair. "No European football for Man United is bad because Old Trafford is about European nights.
"They weren't good in the Champions League and they deserved to go out. Some people will be angry because, with all due respect to Copenhagen and Galatasaray, you shouldn't finish last in that group.

"Yes, there were games where the team looked okay, played well, but again if you don't know how to continue well throughout the whole game, then you're going to suffer. The consistency and concentration was not there. So they've finished last in the group and they'll feel embarrassed."
The Bulgarian added: "I don't think they were not ready for the Champions League, but if you lack qualities during games, then you'll suffer. It's embarrassing to finish below Copenhagen and Galatasaray."
