Man Utd boss Solskjaer says Henderson is to blame for AC Milan’s goal

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted Dean Henderson was to blame for leaving Manchester United's Europa League dream hanging by a thread.

Henderson allowed Simon Kjaer's stoppage time header to go straight through him to earn AC Milan a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford and seize the advantage ahead of the last 16, second leg showdown next week.

Kjaer's last gasp strike ruined Amad Diallo's night after the teenage star had fired United ahead on 50 minutes with his first ever goal just moments after going on as a substitute.

Solskjaer admitted Henderson should have done better and he said: "I'm very disappointed to concede with one of the last kicks of the game, or with the header there.

"That makes it harder for us of course. It's a header from six yards. He can save it of course. I have seen him save them.

"It's never good when you concede at home."

The away goal means Milan will now be favourites to go through – and Paul Scholes reckons Henderson has now damaged his chances of replacing David De Gea as United's new No.1.

De Gea has been given some time off following the birth of his first child to allow Henderson a run in the team, but United legend Scholes said:

"The trouble is when the mistake comes in his career. In this chance he's been given, its come in his second game. It's early. Now he has to respond to that.

"He had a great chance to play for three or four weeks doing really well and making the manager pick him every week and make him tell David 'look there's no way I can leave this boy out'.

"Now that just gives a little opening again for David. He will be down. I think he'll be gutted. Look it's not a glaring mistake, but it's a mistake."
