Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted he’s got no issue with David De Gea after his side’s 3-3 draw with Everton on Saturday night. The Spain international has come in for criticism after conceding three times at Old Trafford. But, amid calls for Dean Henderson to come in, Solskjaer has hinted he doesn’t see the veteran as the person to blame after the result.

United went into the match against Everton looking to put more pressure on Manchester City at the top of the table.

But that didn’t happen, with Solskjaer’s side forced to settle for a point instead.

United raced into a 2-0 lead before half time, with goals from Edinson Cavani and Bruno Fernandes putting them in cruise control.

However, Everton then responded through Abdoulaye Doucoure and James Rodriguez.

United did regain the lead via Scott McTominay but were pegged back right at the end, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin scoring for the visitors.

On social media after the game, many fans vented their fury at De Gea.

But Solskjaer has hinted he’s got no issue with the Spain international, saying: “I wouldn’t blame anyone on the goals.

“But we know we could have done better to defend all of them.”

Solskjaer also insisted United weren’t ready to win the title yet, adding: “We’re not talking about winning titles!

“We’ve come a long way with this team and we shouldn’t even be considered as title chasers so that’s one for you.

“We’ve got to be better as a team and then see where we end up.

“Going forward we were very good but we need to stop conceding easy goals.”

While Solskjaer was calm and measured after the match, United midfielder Fernandes was in a furious mood at the final whistle.

He took aim at his team-mates for their sloppiness, saying: “There are a lot of things to be disappointed with.

“We were making so many mistakes in the last few games and we can’t keep conceding goals like that.

“We have to be more focused, we have to have the same desire to score and to defend our goal.

“Every time we have to make goals and score goals it has to be the same to not concede and I think we have to learn from this.

“It has already happened a lot of times so it is more than a bit disappointing.

“You talk about everything that is going on but it is about learning and make it better.”

Meanwhile, Everton boss Carlo Ancelotti revealed he was proud of his side for the way they performed under the lights at Old Trafford.

“I think we started the game well, and were a little bit shy in the first half,” said the Italian.

“We had opportunities in counter-attacks in the first half but we were not clinical in passing forward.

“We didn’t deserve to lose the game two-nil. In the second half we scored two goals and that was not expected.

“After that the game was in control.

“Honestly we did not deserve to lose. The result was fair for us because the effort and the spirit of the team in the second half was really, really good.”
