Manchester United’s line up for today’s Premier League clash with Tottenham isn’t currently known. However, the Norwegian is likely to pick six players for the showdown given his trust in their abilities. So Express Sport will now take a look at the squad members expected to be unleashed in north London.

Harry Maguire

United have seen Harry Maguire sometimes struggle for consistency during his time with the club.

But the England international has always had the backing of Solskjaer, who sanctioned his arrival from Leicester nearly two years ago.

Maguire has played more minutes under Solskjaer than any other player over the last two years.

And he’s expected to skipper the side when they lock horns with Tottenham as a result.

Maguire will be looking to show Jose Mourinho what he missed out on, with the 58-year-old previously hoping to snap him up in 2018.

Luke Shaw

It’s been quite the season from Luke Shaw over at United.

At the start of the campaign, the common consensus was that Liverpool’s Andy Robertson was the best left-back in the Premier League.

But Shaw is now deserving of that mantle having come on leaps and bounds under Solskjaer’s watch.

He’ll be out to prove Mourinho wrong, too.

The Tottenham boss was brutal on the England international during their time together, crippling the former Southampton star’s confidence.

Scott McTominay

Mourinho liked Scott McTominay during his time as United manager.

The Scotland international was sometimes picked over Paul Pogba when things between the Portuguese and the Frenchman were really bad.

But McTominay has shown he’s far more than just a Pogba alternative, establishing himself as a vital player within his own right.

For the big games, he has Solskjaer’s backing.

So expect him to be deployed for today’s match against Tottenham to marshal the midfield.

Fred

Another player Solskjaer likes for the big games, Fred has also enjoyed a better campaign at Old Trafford.

Mourinho brought him to the club in the summer transfer window of 2019, sanctioning a £52million move for the midfielder.

Yet Fred never seemed to have the backing of the Tottenham boss, regularly being overlooked.

Solskjaer, however, has helped him become the player United thought he would be.

And he’s another who the Norwegian trusts when it comes to the big matches, especially when they’re away from home.

Bruno Fernandes

United were a club in crisis before Bruno Fernandes arrived.

But the Portugal international has been terrific ever since touching down from Sporting Lisbon back in the January transfer window of 2020.

Fernandes starts nearly every big match for United, only being afforded rests by Solskjaer when the 48-year-old senses he’s struggling.

Therefore, expect him to start against Tottenham.

If he doesn’t, then something will certainly be amiss.

Marcus Rashford

Solskjaer’s sixth and final trusted player at United is Marcus Rashford.

The England international has now scored 20 goals in consecutive seasons for the first time in his career after notching against Granada on Thursday night.

And while he limped out of that game, he’s expected to start against Tottenham.

Rashford was on target as United won 2-1 against Spurs at Old Trafford last season.

And he’ll be looking to build on that tally when he faces off against his old boss.
