Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been told to stop Bruno Fernandes from training too hard. The Portugal international has been in electric form this season. And he’ll be hoping to continue his sensational streak when the Red Devils face Crystal Palace on Wednesday night.
United have seen Fernandes step up and deliver again this season.
After propelling the club back into the Champions League last term, he’s propelled 22 goals across all competitions in the current campaign.
And, now, former Sporting Lisbon coach Jose Peseiro has opened up on the playmaker and urged Solskjaer to stop him training too much.
“Normally when training finished, he’d have lunch in the club and then he would go to watch the U19s or U23s play,” he told BBC Sport.
“He liked to see the matches more than the others.

“He wanted to see the new, young players and speak to them to learn who they are and what they are doing on the pitch. He liked too much to see football. He lives for football.”
He then continued: “He wants to train too much, he wants to train more than is possible.
“The coach needs to say ‘Bruno, stop!’ because he wants to train every minute of the day.

“At the end of a training session he will want to stay out and shoot. If there is a ball there, he will want to do something whether it’s before training, during training or after training. He enjoys it so much.”
United haven’t finished in the top four for consecutive seasons since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
But Fernandes has ensured they’re the best of the rest in the Premier League so far this term, besides fierce rivals Manchester City.
An impressive 15 of his goals have come in the top flight and many have called on him to be named PFA Player of the Year at the end of the season.
But Paul Scholes thinks it should go to Manchester City players instead, though did admit the Portugal international should be in with a shout.
“What he’s brought to this United team has been special,” he told Optus Sport.
“He creates goals, scores – not in the big games! – but in a lot of them.
“Ultimately, at Man Utd you are there to win titles and big games and he has to be a bigger influence than that.
“I could give him a bit of an excuse with United’s centre-halves – to me, they need protecting too much, especially in the big games against proper forward players.
“(The central midfielders) sit too deep and he doesn’t get the support from the midfield players, which is important to him.
“It is not just the ability he has got, he needs bodies around him to take people away, so he can come into spaces, be a player who is controlling midfield, and that brings the best out of him.
“This will be a problem for United until they solve it.
“They need to sign a centre-half who is dominant, takes the ball off people, look what City have done with [Ruben] Dias… all the teams that have won the league in recent years: [Vincent] Kompany, [Virgil] Van Dijk.
“He should be right in the mix (for PFA Player of the Year), there is no doubt about that, but I am always a believer the best players are the players playing for the team that wins the league and there are a few City players I’d go for before Bruno.”
Fernandes is set to start for United against Palace on Wednesday.
And the Red Devils will be looking to avoid a repeat of what happened earlier in the campaign.
Palace won 3-1 at Old Trafford, consigning Solskjaer’s side to defeat in the process.
