Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been warned that it would take the best of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson’s powers to get the best out of the current Red Devils squad.
Solskjaer was placed under further pressure by a disappointing 4-2 defeat by Leicester on Saturday. United twice went ahead but their own errors prompted a spirited comeback by the Foxes.
The Old Trafford outfit have now won just two of their last seven games.
Defeat at the King Power Stadium was their second in the Premier League this term, despite a huge summer spend aimed at challenging for the title.
Solskjaer was presented with a £125million transfer raid in the summer, with Raphael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo all arriving.
Results have not yet justified the amount of money spent by the club’s owners. However, it has sensationally been suggested that the squad still might not be good enough.

BBC pundit Garth Crooks believes that even iconic boss Ferguson would struggle to get the best out of Solskjaer’s players.
That poses a problem for Solskjaer, according to Crooks, because Ferguson was a far better manager.
The Scot won an incredible 13 league titles, five FA Cups and two Champions Leagues during an incredible 27-year career with the club.
“Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a problem,” Crooks wrote in his Team of the Week column.
“It would take Sir Alex Ferguson with all his managerial prowess to get the best out of this group of superstars – and Solskjaer is no Ferguson.”
United are not understood to be considering sacking Solskjaer, according to various reports.
However, a grim run of fixtures, which includes derbies against Liverpool and Manchester City, and two Champions League clashes with Atalanta, could place him in trouble.
“The goals we conceded were disappointing, the timing of them and the way they were conceded,” the 48-year-old told reporters after his side were beaten by Leicester.

“We weren’t good enough in the second balls, the 50-50s, the things that make you earn the right to win a game of football.
“Unfortunately, we couldn’t get it our way. It says everything when David [De Gea] was our best player and we concede four goals.
“We were not good enough – with and without the ball. You have to run, block and tackle and we didn’t do that enough. We didn’t deserve a point.
“We got the lead, Mason showed his quality and then we give them a goal. All the goals we conceded were disappointing in the way we conceded. It wasn’t just the midfield, but we were too easy to play through.
“Maybe we gave too much space, but that’s the whole team. I agree we didn’t defend well enough. We just didn’t do things well enough.”
