Manchester United could make a sensational U-turn on their Paul Pogba stance by selling the stricken Frenchman in January, according to reports. The Red Devils are apparently prepared to cut their losses rather than allow Pogba to leave for free in the summer if a bid is made for him.
The midfielder, who has endured a tough few weeks, has a contract until the end of June 2022.
However, there has been little movement on negotiations over fresh terms. As it stands, Pogba will be able to discuss a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club upon the turn of the year.
Last summer, United and Pogba had supposedly been willing to agree a new contract. Those stances now appear to have changed.
The 28-year-old has been linked with moves to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid, Barcelona and former club Juventus.

United risk losing for free a player who they paid £89million to Juve for in 2016.
But the Old Trafford outfit have now apparently decided on how they will deal with his future.
According to the Daily Star, the club’s hierarchy are now prepared to cut their losses and sell in the January transfer window if a bid comes in.
However, United will only sell if they can line up a replacement. Supporters and pundits have suggested that under-pressure boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would benefit from midfield reinforcements.
Leaving in January could mean that Pogba might have incredibly already played his last game for United.
He has withdrawn from the France squad with a thigh injury that could keep him out for at least 10 weeks.
That means Pogba might have bowed out of the Premier League when he was sent off for a horror tackle on Naby Keita during United’s 5-0 thrashing by Liverpool.
The former Juve star was a half-time substitute with his side already trailing by four goals, but lasted just 15 minutes before he was dismissed.
It was reported after that game that Pogba refused to speak to boss Solskjaer in the aftermath. He was apparently furious at having been left on the bench for the crunch clash.

However, he hit out at those reports in a social media post. “Big lies to make headlines,” Pogba captioned his post, which was shared to Instagram and Twitter.
He still has one more game to serve of his three-match ban and his injury could keep him out until the new year.
Pogba’s agent, Mino Raiola, did not provide an update on his client’s future when asked recently.
“You would have to ask Manchester United about it,” Raiola told The Times.
“At this moment everything is calm. There is no update.”
