Man Utd and Man City dealt Haaland blow after Dortmund chief’s Raiola claim
Manchester United and Manchester City have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Erling Haaland.
It comes after Borussia Dortmund chief Hans-Joachim Watzke opened up on his relationship with controversial agent Mino Raiola.
Haaland is hot property this summer after a stunning season in the Bundesliga with 37 goals in all competitions – including 10 in the Champions League.
It has seen the biggest clubs in Europe register an interest, including Barcelona and Real Madrid.
But a move to the Premier League is on the cards with both Manchester clubs prepared to fork out big money to persuade him to join one of their teams.
However, Watzke has dealt a blow to both United and City by insisting Haaland is going nowhere due to his relationship with Raiola.
He said: "I’ve known Raiola for a long time and get along well with him. It’s no problem for us. Erling Haaland will remain a Borussia Dortmund player next year."
That comes in light of the fact that Raiola has been jetting around Europe in a bid to drum up interest in his client.
Despite Dortmund insisting that Haaland will be going nowhere, a huge asking price has been slapped on the 20-year-old's head.
They have demanded £154m for his services as they look to scare off interest in the youngster.
But Raiola has insisted that the Bundesliga side could be tempted to sell their main asset if a team puts in a huge offer.
“What we know as of today is that Dortmund spoke extremely solemnly to us and said: 'We are not selling him'. That's the situation, definitely,” he told AS.
“That's what they've said. Now let's see if that desire is still there through to the 1st of September.
“Today, the official stance of Dortmund is this. But I've got another view, I think that if a good opportunity comes up and everyone would be happy, we'll put it on the table.”
