Man Utd and Arsenal told how much they will need to pay to sign Victor Osimhen

Manchester United and Arsenal have been told how much they will need to pay to sign Victor Osimhen from Napoli.

Both sides were strongly linked with a move for the Nigerian striker during the summer, after he scored 18 goals in 32 appearances across all competitions for the Italian giants. However, his agent has now revealed the player had no plans to leave Naples during the summer, with his contract still having three years left on it.

With Napoli having spent just under £70million to sign Osimhen from Lille in 2020, they remain reluctant to sell the 23-year-old anytime soon.

Despite that, though, the club are understood to have slapped an £88m price tag on the forward, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

Following the conclusion of the summer transfer window, Romano touched on Osimhen's future and tweeted: "I’ve seen many rumours about Napoli striker Victor Osimhen – a very good striker, a very important player.

“My understanding is the only chance to sign him was towards the end of the summer, but (Man Utd) decided to go for Antony as their priority.

“At the moment, Napoli have absolutely no intention to sell Osimhen in January. They’re having an amazing season and Osimhen is a big part of that. They’ve always said it would take more than €100m, so it won’t be easy in January to tempt Napoli into a sale."

So far this campaign, Osimhen has scored four goals in eight matches for Napoli, who remain unbeaten and top of Serie A with eight wins from their opening 10 matches.

Luciano Spalletti's side have also already qualified for the Champions League last 16 after winning each of their first four fixtures, including a 4-1 thrashing of Liverpool.

Osimhen's agent, Roberto Calenda, has echoed Romano's claims about the player's future too, telling Radio Kiss Kiss, via Caught Offside: “Whoever talked about a departure made a mistake.

"It was Victor’s will to stay at Napoli and play the Champions League that he won entry to last year together with his teammates.

“Victor wanted exactly that, to have a great year with Napoli, between the league and the Champions League. He has a long contract with the Azzurri. The market is dynamic, but our will is to continue at Napoli and continue to do well.”
