Man Utd already have Paul Pogba replacement lined up as Barcelona open talks
Manchester United already have a replacement lined up as they prepare for the departure of midfielder Paul Pogba next summer.
The Frenchman’s contract at Old Trafford runs out next year and he is yet to sign a contract extension, despite an offer from United being on the table since last July.
Pogba arrived at United in 2016 for £89.3million from Juventus but his price tag has often meant that he has frequently come under criticism from fans and pundits alike for his inconsistency.
The 28-year-old is regularly a standout performer in the France national team and looks like a world-class act on the international stage, but he can’t find that level of form at a club level.
Despite that, numerous teams are looking at signing Pogba on a free transfer next year and trying to add consistency to his game, and ESPN have revealed that Barcelona have joined the race to secure his signature, despite their reportedly poor financial position.
The La Liga outfit have reportedly been offered the services of Pogba by his agent Mino Raiola, who is often thought to have been in talks with Paris Saint-Germain, Juve and other Premier League clubs.
Although losing one of their most talented players on a free transfer would be a significant hit for United, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already set his sights on a replacement.

ESPN understand that Monaco midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni is on the Red Devils’ radar and they are preparing to enter a bidding war with some of Europe’s top clubs to secure his signature.
Tchouameni is thought to be valued by the Ligue 1 outfit at between £42m and £50m, but the midfielder is only 21 years old and so there is a case to be made that this would be a long-term investment.
The French midfielder has already made five appearances for Les Bleus and featured in the Nations League final against Spain earlier this month, which Didier Deschamps’ men won thanks to a late winner from Kylian Mbappe.

Pogba and Tchouameni were the central midfield pairing for the clash and both received plenty of praise for their performances.
And United fans will be hoping that, with a bit of luck, they will see more of that partnership in years to come if Pogba stays and the club continue their pursuit of Tchouameni.
