Manchester United winger Anthony Elanga has been dealt a reality check by France World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf after scoring in his side’s 3-1 win at Brentford on Wednesday. Elanga scored the first goal for United after being handed his second Premier League start of the season by Ralf Rangnick. But Leboeuf was not convinced by his performance.
Elanga played the entire match at the Brentford Community Stadium, with Mason Greenwood and Cristiano Ronaldo the two forwards who were taken off.
Marcus Rashford replaced Greenwood and scored his first goal since October.
The England international’s celebration was muted and Leboeuf can understand his frustration at a lack of game time recently.
Appearing on ESPN FC after the game, the Frenchman explained how he thinks Rashford is still a far better option than Elanga despite the teenager’s goal.

Leboeuf said: “I don’t see Ronaldo happy, I don’t even see Rashford coming on and being happy to be in there. So many problems still to resolve.
“I love that player [Rashford]. I felt when he scored the goal that he couldn’t care less.
“He’s not happy with the fact that he doesn’t play, that he doesn’t start.
“When I saw Elanga the first hour, I was wondering why Rashford wasn’t playing.

“Well he scored a goal, he had a fantastic goal, well done – but that’s it.
“But if you want to compare Rashford with Elanga, I’m sorry – there is no way I’m going to put Rashford after Elanga. Rashford is much better right now than Elanga.”
Elanga spoke to the media after his second Premier League goal and paid tribute to the travelling United fans.
The Swede told MUTV: “It’s always special to score for this wonderful club.
“I had the honour to do it last season against Wolves, and it felt amazing.
“They’ve made the journey here, a long journey as well, so they deserve that,” he said.
“That win is for them and that goal was for them as well.”
Elanga was also full of praise for interim boss Rangnick for his impact since arriving.
He added: “I appreciate the boss so much and you can see in training, the intensity, how much we are running.
“If you put the work in, you’ll get rewards in games and that’s what I want to try and do every day; try to work hard and train the way I want to play.”
