Man United 'will NOT on takeover saga to make Greenwood decision'

Manchester United ‘will NOT wait until their takeover saga is over to make a decision on Mason Greenwood’s future’… after forward was spotted training on his own on a public pitch

  • Greenwood underwent a 90-minute session with a private coach on Thursday
  • The 21-year-old is still under an internal investigation overseen by Man United
  • The club are expected to make a decision over his future in the coming weeks

Manchester United will not wait for their ownership situation to be resolved to make a decision on the future of Mason Greenwood, according to reports.

Greenwood was pictured training on his own for the first time since his arrest in 2022 at an £85-an-hour public sports centre pitch on Thursday.

In photographs obtained by The Sun, the 21-year-old was seen sporting an all-black, non-United training kit and working with a private coach during a 90-minute session.

Greenwood, 21, had been due to stand trial this year but all charges for attempted rape and assault were dropped in February following ‘the withdrawal of key witnesses’.

United fans are currently waiting to find out who out of Sheikh Jassim and British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe has won the long-running battle for control from the Glazers.

And The Telegraph says that battle will have no impact on whether or not Greenwood remains at the club.

The player, who is under contract at Man United until 2025, is still undergoing an internal investigation to decide his future,

The forward had initially been charged in October 2022 after being first held earlier that year in January.

Greenwood has been suspended by Man United on full pay since then, and there remains a lingering question mark over the player’s future at the club.

United are believed to have had extensive talks with the player – who is not expected to join training until pre-season at the earliest, and pending the investigation – about the next steps.

His name was included on the Red Devils’ list of retained players released to the Premier League last week, and there are thought to have been discussions about a potential loan move to Italy, Spain, or Turkey.

Mail Sport reported in March that Man United had reportedly rejected offers for their player from a number of Turkish clubs.

Greenwood is yet to play under the Dutch manager, who joined the club in the summer of 2022, but has reportedly already spoken to Ten Hag.
