Man United transfer target ‘prepares goodbye’ as Pochettino to ‘rescue’ Coutinho
A new era has begun at Old Trafford.
With Ole Gunnar Solskjaer out the door, Michael Carrick took charge of his first game as caretaker manager as the Red Devils claimed an impressive 2-0 win against Villarreal in the Champions League on Tuesday night.
But the new regime is not expected to last long, and a new manager could soon be installed at Old Trafford.
That could bring about a period of upheaval for the club, with the club now being linked with some of the most talented players in world football.
Mauricio Pochettino, reported to be the club's number one target for the managerial job, could move to rescue a player he's worked with in the past.
United may have also found a replacement for Paul Pogba, as one reported target is said to be preparing his goodbyes to his current teammates.
Daily Star Sport has taken a look at the latest Man United transfer news below.
Pochettino to 'rescue' Coutinho
Mauricio Pochettino could 'rescue' former Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho should he be appointed Manchester United manager, it has been reported.
According to the Liverpool Echo, Pochettino could once again move for the player who he brought to former club Espanyol in 2012.
The La Liga club were under the management of Pochettino at the time and the attacking midfielder went on to make 16 appearances and score five goals in the remainder of that season.

Pogba replacement lined up
United could move for Frenkie de Jong as a January replacement for Paul Pogba, according to reports.
Recent reports coming out of Spain suggest cash-strapped Barcelona will have to let the midfielder leave for £75million, just three years after they signed him from Ajax.
And according to the Daily Mail, United could make a play for the Dutchman.
Player ‘preparing goodbye’
Another player being linked as a potential Pogba replacement is Lazio's Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.
And according to Corriere della Sera, the player is now ‘preparing his goodbye’.
Milinkovic-Savic has long been linked with a move away from Italy but has so far remained put, and according to the report ‘the interest of some wealthy English clubs, starting with Manchester United, changes the situation’.
It also adds that United would have to beat the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint Germain to the player's signature.
