Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola revealed he had received a touching message from Sir Alex Ferguson before emulating the legendary Man United manager by winning a historic Treble.

Man City added the Champions League to the Premier League and FA Cup by beating Inter Milan 1-0 on Saturday night.

Afterwards Guardiola said: ‘It’s an honour for me to be alongside Sir Alex Ferguson. I got a message from him this morning. It touched me. It was nice.’

Manchester United full-back Brandon Williams has stirred up trouble with their city rivals by posting ‘Nobody wants a sloppy seconds’ on Instagram.

Manchester City secured the Treble with Saturday’s 1-0 win over Inter Milan in the Champions League final – to replicate the trio of trophies enjoyed by Man United in the summer of 1999.

Williams, who was born in 2000, posted on Instagram Stories ‘Nobody wants a sloppy seconds’, alongside three emojis of Red Devils.

Newcastle are eyeing up a loan deal for Manchester United defender Harry Maguire, but the club are only interested in doing a permanent deal with the Magpies.

The England defender looks like he is on his out of Old Trafford this summer and the Magpies want to rescue Maguire from United, but the Red Devils do not want to loan the player and help a top four rival without getting anything in return say The Sun.

If though, Newcastle moved to make a cash offer for the 30-year-old, then the club would be willing to do a deal.
