Man United fans hit out at 'unlikeable' squad over unhappiness reports
‘This is officially the most unlikeable team we’ve had in decades’: Man United fans hit out at the squad amid reports of unhappiness at Ralf Rangnick’s training methods… and insist stars were ‘pampered and protected’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
- Manchester United players are reportedly vexed by Ralf Rangnick’s methods
- ESPN have claimed that the squad are confused why Chris Armas takes the lead
- The latest storm at Old Trafford has left supporters furiously slamming the stars
- Some fans have even claimed that the group are the most ‘unlikeable’ in decades
Outraged Manchester United supporters have taken to social media to hit out at their ‘unlikeable’ squad after reports suggested some players are unhappy with interim boss Ralf Rangnick’s training methods.
Rangnick was hired to replace sacked former manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer until the end of the season and, despite steadying the ship somewhat, has failed to inspire a notable turnaround in results.
As a result, United have crashed out of the FA Cup and again dropped out of the top four in the Premier League – with tempers among the fanbase now flaring quickly.
Manchester United fans have labelled their current squad the most ‘unlikeable’ in decades
To make matters worse, the latest claim from ESPN that several members of Rangnick’s first-team are vexed and puzzled by his sessions has been greeted with hostility. Many fans believe they were ‘pampered’ too much by Solskjaer.
One Reddit user wrote: ‘This squad is officially the most unlikeable United team we’ve had in decades. A bunch of spineless, self-entitled losers.
‘[Chris] Armas is “Ted Lasso”, well yeah, then you lot are some w*****s. Can’t score from corners, can’t pass the ball properly, can’t cross can’t finish.
According to reports, players have complained about Ralf Rangnick’s old-fashioned methods
‘The fundamentals of football are non-existent with this lot and they still have the balls to blame the coaches.’
‘If these leaks/sources are true (and I’m hoping it isn’t that bad and it’s being blown out of proportion), then a) we have a bunch of primadonnas and b) no manager will succeed here if these idiots aren’t weeded out first,’ a second said.
Another added: ‘They were silent for two years when they were pampered and protected by Ole, turned on him after he left, and now they’re crying again about training.’
‘If Rangnick wants to chop and change 20+ players of the squad in the summer, I’ll be right behind them,’ a fourth wrote. ‘These players have complained about every single coach they’ve had.’
‘And these same players want Poch [Mauricio Pochettino] as manager when he’s known to demand crazy fitness and focus on heavy sessions,’ a fifth posted.
‘This is why these players don’t matter when it comes to managerial decisions, they’ll just turn on him too within two months. Need to get rid of the complainers ASAP.’
Finally, a sixth said: ‘Sulking that “old fashioned” training techniques are being used is what, offending them? Rangnick is basically taking things back to basics because it’s needed to be.
‘It should be embarrassing that players of that calibre require to be taught how a team of 11 need to position themselves. Forget fancy one touch and dynamic drills, learn to walk before you can run, guys.
Stars are also puzzled as to why his assistant Chris Armas (centre right) leads most sessions
The 49-year-old American coach (left) has reportedly even been compared to Ted Lasso (right)
‘Some of these players are a joke to the profession.’
ESPN have gone on to add that United players are perplexed why Rangnick has been taking a backseat in training, with his assistant Chris Armas leading the majority of their sessions at their Carrington base.
Reportedly, Armas, 49, has been compared by stars to Ted Lasso – the protagonist in the hit TV series which sees an American college football coach hired to manage a Premier League side despite his lack of experience.
The same outlet say that players are not impressed by the heavy emphasis on regular organisational and shape work, instead of drills to improve their skills.
Rangnick was quick to respond to the reports in his press conference on Friday afternoon.
When quizzed on his training sessions, he replied: ‘The way the team has developed the last couple of weeks is obvious.
‘The training we are doing including the important training games, 11 v 11 games, the rondos to improve fluidity, it’s part of the training sessions.’
Rangnick was asked specifically about his No 2’s likeness to Lasso and said: ‘Nothing to be honest. I haven’t read any newspapers and don’t know about those articles.’
