Manchester City will become an even more terrifying outfit if Erling Haaland is signed in the summer. The Borussia Dortmund star has been heavily linked with a transfer and new reports claim a deal is already done to bring the striker to the Premier League.
City would have an extraordinary starting XI next season if Haaland is brought in from Dortmund.
The Norway international is top of the shortlist at the Etihad with Pep Guardiola desperate to bring in a striker.
The Catalan coach sees a forward as the final piece of the jigsaw as they look to close in on another Premier League title.
City are top of the table and leading Liverpool by six points and look on course to win their fourth title in four years.
But that will not stop them from improving in the summer while Haaland is being chased by several elite European clubs.
Real Madrid, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have all been linked with the 21-year-old, who has scored 23 times in 20 appearances this season.
However, according to the Daily Mail, City are leading the race and look primed to snap up the Leeds-born ace this summer in a deal that will cost around £100million with all the fees included.
And that would make Guardiola’s side a frightening prospect – with an elite striker added to the mix that can cause serious havoc.
Harry Kane was eyed last year but Tottenham refused to entertain any offers and held on to their talisman.
That was despite the England international telling Spurs that he wanted to leave, even refusing to turn up to training – though he disputes that claim.
But City appear to have moved on from their attempts to sign the 28-year-old with Haaland now their top target.
The Norwegian has a £63m release clause that comes into play this summer, which will spark a frenzy.
However, while that appears to be a bargain fee, the number of extra payments and bonuses will take the total outlay well past £100m.
Haaland’s agent Mino Raiola is set to pocket a large amount of cash from the proceedings, though City will have the funds to pull off the deal.
And if they do, the Premier League champions will have a team that would strike fear into anyone.
City’s expected first-choice starting XI next season: Ederson; Walker, Dias, Laporte, Cancelo; Rodri, De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva; Sterling, Haaland, Mahrez.
