Jack Grealish is set to become the most expensive Premier League player ever after closing in on a £100million dream move to Manchester City. The Premier League champions are inching towards a deal for the Villa midfielder after offering £75m with £25m in potential add-ons.
Grealish, 25, is set to complete his medical in Manchester before putting pen to paper on a five-year deal worth £300,000 a week.
City and Villa are continuing to work on the structure of the blockbuster deal with the the Midlands club wanting as much up front as possible.
Grealish’s record-breaking transfer eclipses the previous high-water mark of £89m which Manchester United paid Juventus for Paul Pogba in 2016.
It also takes Grealish clear of the £85m Real Madrid paid Spurs for Gareth Bale which made him the most expensive British player ever back in 2013.

Aston Villa have made it clear they did not want to sell and did all they could to persuade Grealish to stay offering a new deal worth £200,000 a week.
But ultimately the prospect of playing alongside the likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden at City in Champions League proved too much to resist.
Grealish will also get £100,000 more at the Etihad than he would have by staying with the Villans.
City remain in the hunt for Harry Kane but only if Spurs chairman Daniel Levy relaxes his stance and drops his valuation from £150m.
Etihad bosses are less optimistic than they were a week ago that Kane will be able to get himself out of Spurs.

And they are not prepared to be held to ransom with their own valuation £30m short of Spurs asking price.
Amid criticism of Grealish’s decision to depart, former Aston Villa midfielder Lee Hendrie insists the move will be motivated by silverware.

Hendrie told talkSPORT: “The British transfer record, it’s undoubtable that [Villa] couldn’t really turn it down, whether there was a release clause in Jack’s contract, which I think has been talked about, but it’s an obscene amount of money.
“The way football is going, I thought it was going to calm down, but it seems to be continuing to go through the roof again.
“This is the thing with Jack, I know him quite well and his family, I don’t think it was really down to the money.
“It could have been whatever amount of money; he was on an obscene amount of money on his current contract. So, I don’t think it’s about the money.
“He’s a Villa fan, like myself, and and I think some fans will feel that he’s turned his back on the club, for sure, there’s no doubt about that. But this is more about football, this is more about medals.
“Listen, I would have loved to have seen Jack be at the football club and then build something quite special at Aston Villa, because they’ve certainly got the backing with the board and the money to go and do that.
“I just feel that there will be a minority of fans that will certainly turn their back on Jack and tha’’s sort of the unfortunate thing about football because they are big Aston Villa fans and they just expected Jack Grealish to be there forever.
“I think Jack has obviously looked at the Champions League and Premier League – it’s about the medals.”
