Phil Foden has already asked Kylian Mbappe if he’s “ready” to rumble in the Champions League semi-finals. The Manchester City attacking midfielder must now been considered amongst the best young stars in the game alongside Mbappe and Erling Haaland after another big moment in his career.
Foden scored the crucial winner in the first leg at the Etihad Stadium after Marco Reus struck the leveller for the visitors.
And tonight at Signal Iduna Park, Foden ensured City made the last four when he fired home a thunderbolt in off the post.
Granted, goalkeeper Marwin Hitz perhaps could have done better but nobody was taking this way from the England international.
He shared a special moment in celebration with manager Pep Guardiola, who has even been prepared to bench Raheem Sterling in favour of the 20-year-old.

After the game, Foden took to social media to issue a challenge to Mbappe ahead of the semi-finals, with City set to face Paris Saint-Germain.
“@KMbappe are you ready,” tweeted Foden to Mbappe, with a handshake emoji.
Foden and Mbappe are amongst the new poster boys for Nike alongside Haaland as they prepare to lock horns in the semi-finals.
The City man now looks a certainty to make Gareth Southgate’s England squad this summer for the European Championships.

But before Foden can think ahead, he will be giving his all to try and help City win their first-ever Champions League trophy.
It could be argued that they won’t get a better chance to achieve just that with the Premier League title seemingly wrapped up.
