Ferran Torres has asked Pep Guardiola to let him leave Manchester City to join Xavi’s revolution at Barcelona. And Guardiola will allow the 21-year-old to depart the club if Barcelona come forward with an appropriate offer, according to reports.
City signed Torres from Valencia for a fee in the region of £21million (€23m) just 16 months ago.
The Spanish forward has shown glimpses of his blatant potential throughout his short spell in England so far, registering 16 goals and four assists in 43 appearances in all competitions.
But he could already be eyeing a return to his homeland by joining Guardiola’s old club amid a major rebuilding process under Xavi.
And the City boss won’t stand in his way if the latest murmurs from Spain are to be believed.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Xavi has prioritised Torres and Dani Olmo to bolster his attack at Camp Nou.
And Torres has already asked Guardiola if he can return to Spain and link up with Xavi, who replaced Ronald Koeman as manager earlier this month.
Most notably, the Catalan boss has given him his blessing, but only if Barcelona and City can agree on terms.
Barcelona director of football Mateu Alemany and Torres’ agent, Hector Paris, have a strong relationship, which has made the transfer more possible.

Mundo Deportivo claim Torres is thankful for Guardiola’s trust to sign and then play him for the Premier League champions.
However, he believes he can’t say no if the Blaugrana come calling, which Guardiola is said to understand completely.
Any move will depend on whether the interested party can produce a good enough offer given their financial woes of late.
And City will value Torres highly, given his short period at the club and clear potential.
Guardiola would still have an incredible amount of attacking talent available to him if Torres departs.
In the summer, Jack Grealish arrived in a £100m deal, joining Riyad Mahrez, Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling, Gabriel Jesus, Phil Foden and Torres as wide options.
And if City rake in a hefty sum for their Spanish forward’s services, it could go towards finally securing a world-class striker to replace Sergio Aguero.
Erling Haaland will be the name on everyone’s lips next summer, with the Norwegian superstar available for £64m due to a clause in his Borussia Dortmund contract.
City should be in for the 21-year-old regardless of whether they sell any first-team stars, but Torres’ departure would leave a slot to fill in Guardiola’s ranks.
