Manchester City are reportedly keen on signing Aston Villa star Jack Grealish.
Pep Guardiola’s side want to strengthen following their Champions League final disappointment against Chelsea and Grealish is seen as an important signing, despite the departure of Sergio Aguero leaving a whole in their forward ranks.
ESPN report that City have been encouraged by Villa’s recent deal with Norwich for the signing of Argentina player Emiliano Buendia, leaving the Villains more open to a sale.
However, the £100m price tag put on Grealish may put the reigning Premier League champions off.
While City aren’t afraid to open the chequebooks, they never spend that amount of money on one player, which may prove to be a stumbling block.
Villa have no urgency to sell either, and will most certainly ask for a record-breaking fee for their best player.
Guardiola feels that adding Grealish to his squad would allow City to further strengthen their grip at the top of English football, going ahead of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The Catalan coach also thinks Grealish would combine well with 20-year-old Phil Foden, who has enjoyed a stellar campaign and the pair are currently preparing for the Euros together with England.
Grealish has had another fine campaign for Aston Villa, despite spending much of the second half of the campaign on the treatment table due to a shin injury.

A league campaign return of seven goals and 12 assists earned him a nomination for the Premier League Player of the Season award, which was eventually won by City defender Ruben Dias.
Grealish has been at Villa since 2012 – his entire senior career and only signed a new contract last October, one that runs until 2025.
