Manchester City fan and Oasis legend Noel Gallagher believes Erling Haaland’s proposed move to the Etihad Stadium is as good as done after it was confirmed that Sergio Aguero will be leaving at the end of the season. City confirmed last night that the Argentine forward would not be extending his 10-year stay at the club and would instead be moving on to pursue new ventures.
It means City are almost certain to delve into the transfer market for a new striker when the transfer window reopens.
Haaland would be the obvious choice to replace Aguero, particularly given the lack of world-class young centre-forwards on the market right now.
The Norwegian has shown he is capable of replicating and even bettering Aguero’s goal output following his emergence onto the scene at RB Salzburg.
And Gallagher has now speculated that a deal could be on the verge of completion, given City are willing to let Aguero leave.

He told talkSPORT: “If you’re reading between the lines of what’s happening here, the dream now for every City fan would be this… they’ve come to an agreement with the club, it’s a done deal with Haaland somewhere.
“I would love it if he came, I think he’s perfect for us. He’s young enough and would be willing to learn with Pep [Guardiola] and all that.
“You wouldn’t want Sergio to play second fiddle to anybody.
“I think it’s a great thing that he’s going to go off and play somewhere else for a couple of seasons and he’s not going to be sitting on the bench.”

Aguero is yet to decide where he will be playing his football next season but he would ideally like to stay in Europe.
Barcelona are among the candidates for his signature while there is also strong interest from Italy.
City are set to honour his incredible service, which included scoring the last-gasp title-winning goal against Queens Park Rangers in 2012, with a statue outside the Etihad Stadium.
Aguero said in an emotional statement last night: “When a cycle comes to an end, many sensations arise.
“A huge sense of satisfaction and pride remains in me for having played with Manchester City for a whole ten seasons – unusual for a professional player this day and age.
“Ten seasons with major achievements, throughout which I was able to become the top historic goalscorer and forging an indestructible bond with all those who love the club – people who will always be in my heart.”
Gabriel Jesus will now be hoping he gets the chance to become the club’s first-choice striker.
Although Guardiola has shown a tendency to play without a recognised No 9 on plenty of occasions this season, in a revolutionary tactical change for the champions-elect.
