Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola shut down any talk of Erling Haaland to his club in the transfer window with a pretty curt response to one question. Mino Raiola revealed the Etihad club could be about to snap up the Borussia Dortmund star.
Guardiola was in no mood to speak about Haaland after being asked about whether City are interested in a transfer.
The Borussia Dortmund striker has been heavily linked with a summer switch away from the Bundesliga outfit next year.
A reported £68m release clause will come into effect which is set to spark a feeding frenzy.
A host of European clubs are interested in the 21-year-old, who has continued his breathtaking form in front of goal.
The 21-year-old has scored 11 times in the Bundesliga in just eight matches while he came off the bench against Besiktas to score twice in the Champions League this week.
City are the hot favourites to sign the Leeds-born ace after making a striker a top priority following their failure to sign Harry Kane in the summer.
His agent Raiola ramped up talk after insisting that the Etihad would be the only destination he would consider, effectively ruling Manchester United and Chelsea out of the race.
“He can and will take the next step,” Raiola told Sport1.
“Bayern, Real, Barcelona, City – these are the big clubs he can go to.
“City have won the championship five times in recent years, significantly more than United. When we moved to Dortmund, we all knew that this step would come.
“Maybe this summer, maybe the summer after. But there is a great chance that Erling will leave this summer.”
Guardiola was asked about Raiola’s comments but bluntly shut down any talk of a transfer for Haaland.”
“Next question,” the Catalan coach said. “Don’t ask me about that – I’m not going to answer.”
City take on Wolves in the Premier League tomorrow lunchtime and will look to retain their position at the top of the Premier League.
Both Liverpool and Chelsea are looking to jump above them when they face Aston Villa and Leeds United respectively tomorrow afternoon.
