Man City are in talks to sign Fluminense teenagers Kayky and Metinho

Manchester City locked in talks to sign Fluminense teenagers Kayky and Metinho with Brazilian club holding out for more than £15m that has been offered so far for talented duo

  • The Brazilian club want more than the £15million Manchester City have offered
  • City have outbid Shakhtar Donestsky for Kayky who’s been likened to Neymar
  • City have bid around £10m for Kayky while team-mate Metinho is valued at £5m
  • Liverpool and Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk have shown interest in the duo

Manchester City are in talks with Fluminense to sign teenagers Kayky and Metinho – but the Brazilian club are holding out for more than the £15million package currently on the table.

Sportsmail understands City are hopeful of agreeing a deal for the 17-year-old pair and have already outbid Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk for Kayky, an attacking midfielder who has won comparison to Neymar. Liverpool were also interested.

City’s offer for Kayky is around £10m, while Metinho, a midfielder, is valued at £5m in the double transfer. Both deals are made up of initial payments plus add-ons.

However, Fluminense president, Mario Bittencourt, is under pressure from supporters after losing Marcos Paulo to Atletico Madrid for a small compensation fee. The 19-year-old’s contract was set to expire this summer and he signed a pre-contract agreement with Atletico last week.

That has complicated City’s approach for Kayky and Metinho and it is expected they will return with an improvement on their £15m offer in the coming days, although it is unlikely to be concluded before Monday’s transfer deadline.

A loan move to City Football Group partner Troyes, of Ligue 2 in France, has already been mooted for Metinho.

Manchester City moved three points clear at the top of the Premier League after beating bottom club Sheffield United 1-0 at the Etihad on Saturday.

Gabriel Jesus scored the only goal of the game in the first half to seal an eighth straight league win.

Pep Guardiola’s side also have a game in hand over second placed Manchester United, who were held to a goalless draw at Arsenal.
