Pep Guardiola appears to already possess the perfect partner in crime to Jack Grealish and Harry Kane in his Manchester City squad. Despite finishing as top scorers as they won a third Premier League title in four years, City are focusing on improving their attacking options in the transfer window.

At the top of their shopping list are Grealish and Kane, with City stepping up their efforts to sign the pair.

The reigning champions last week submitted a £100million bid to Aston Villa for Grealish, which is expected to be accepted.

Grealish has starred for Villa over recent seasons, scoring 14 goals and providing 15 assists for the Midlands club over the past two seasons.

That has seen Dean Smith’s side escape relegation in their first campaign back in the top-flight, before coming close to securing a top-half finish last term.

Those displays in the top-flight earned him a place in the England squad for Euro 2020, where he impressed many despite mainly being limited to substitute appearances.

City’s summer business will not stop with the pursuit of Grealish though, as they are also eyeing a move for his Three Lions team-mate Kane.

The Tottenham star has become one of the best strikers in the Premier League, finishing last season as both the top scorer and the top assist provider.

But his individual performances have not been matched by the wider team, with Kane still yet to win a major trophy.

That has led to the 28-year-old demanding an exit this summer, with City reportedly preparing a Premier League-record transfer bid.

It does normally take time for players to settle at a new club, but City already possess a star who can make Grealish and Kane’s transition as smooth as possible.

Raheem Sterling endured a tough season for his club last year, but came alive when linking up with Kane and Grealish at Euro 2020.

The winger, who was one of the players of the tournament over the summer, can be the key to unlocking the potential new arrivals at the Etihad Stadium.

Sterling showed once again the link he has with Kane when on England duty, helping to bring the best out of the Spurs striker.

It was mainly the trio of Grealish, Kane and Sterling who were on the pitch when the Villa star was brought on.

Grealish also provided the assist for Sterling’s winning goal against the Czech Republic, a taster of what could be seen at the Etihad in future seasons.

Though Sterling fell out of form for City towards the end of last season, his performances over the summer will have revitalised him.

That could be crucial if City are indeed able to wrap up deals for both Kane and Grealish, with the key to unlocking their talents potentially lying with Sterling.
