David Moyes was ready to run onto the pitch to recreate the dive of Luis Suarez back in 2012 after the Liverpool forward mocked the Everton boss in style.

In the build up to the Goodison Park contest Moyes had said that 'divers' like Suarez were putting fans off the Premier League, which didn't please the Uruguayan.

Instead of letting his goalscoring actions do the talking after putting Liverpool in-front inside the first-half, Suarez ran to the dugouts and leaped onto the turf like a salmon – leading to Reds supporters branding it 'the greatest celebration ever'.

Moyes approached Suarez who was in a bundle with his Liverpool colleagues, appearing to mutter something under his breath with Brendan Rodgers clapping while watching on.

The game went on to finish 2-2 with Leon Osman, Steven Naismith and an own goal from Leighton Baines completing the scoring, which didn't give Moyes a chance to respond.

The Scottish manager had said to rile Suarez: "I would (be concerned about Suarez) because I think he has got history.

"I tell you what it will do, it will turn the supporters away from football. It is hard for the referees, it really is.

"But it will turn supporters away from it if they think players are conning their way to results. People like to see things done correctly, in the main."

Moyes later said of the celebration in a chat with the Independent: "The game went to 2-2 and I can remember saying if we scored the late winner I would have marked up a first for managers, because I would have run on to the pitch and dived in front of him.

"I had said that he was going down too easily, and fair play to him for his response. I don’t need to say what a top player he is and he’s not given enough credit for the way he works for the team."

Despite his goalscoring prowess leading to 82 goals from 133 matches, Suarez left the club with only a League Cup victory to his name, before joining Barcelona, where he won every trophy available and cemented his status as one of the all-time great strikers.

Moyes went on to manage Manchester United before being dismissed, more recently working at Real Sociedad, Sunderland and now a second spell at West Ham.
