Luis Suarez could be about to call time on his eventful playing career due to injury, leaving fans of the striker heartbroken.

The former Liverpool and Barcelona hero, 36, left Atletico Madrid in January for Brazilian side Gremio and has scored seven goals in 16 league games. However, it is reported, due to constant knee pain, Suarez is set to call time on his career.

Brazilian journalist German Garcia Grova reported: “Luis Suárez told the board of #Gremio that he is retiring from football. It is due to intense pain in the knee.”

He added that Gremio will take the bizarre step of inserting an ‘anti-Inter Miami’ clause into any separation agreement. Suarez has previously been linked with the MLS team, which is co-owned by David Beckham.
