Luis Suarez could prove to be bargain answer to Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah doubts
Luis Suarez could reportedly make a sensational return to Liverpool this summer.
The Uruguayan impressed at Anfield before leaving to join Barcelona in 2014 and is now at fellow La Liga side Atletico Madrid.
Reports have suggested there is a clause in Suarez’s contract which means he could leave Atletico for free this summer despite only joining the club last summer.
And Deportes Cuatro claim Liverpool reportedly view Suarez as a possible replacement for Mohamed Salah amid doubts over the Egyptian’s future.
Real Madrid have often been linked with a move for Salah with the ex-Chelsea man having previously suggested he would like to play in Spain.
It is believed that Suarez is happy at Atletico and would prefer to remain in the Spanish capital past the summer.
He had scored 69 Premier League goals in 110 appearances for the Reds with Suarez openly speaking about his love for the Reds.
After reaching 500 career goals, Suarez made reference to Liverpool in a letter to fans on social media.
"And Liverpool? Liverpool was special," he wrote. "The connection with the fans inspired me to rise to the challenge of playing in such a competitive league."
While speaking after Liverpool were crowned Prem champions in 2020, Suarez said: "It’s a pleasure for me to speak with you and the Liverpool fans.
“I am so excited as well because I played for a few years there and I have so many friends there.
"For me, this is amazing for the supporters, for the players and for the so many people working inside Liverpool.
“So many people work there and for the last 30 years they didn’t know how it felt for Liverpool to win the Premier League.
