Luis Enrique travels to London for Chelsea talks thanks to ‘impressive vision’

Luis Enrique has arrived in London for further talks with Chelsea over their vacant managerial position, according to reports.

The 52-year-old was one of the candidatescontacted by the Blues after Todd Boehly sacked Graham Potter at the weekend. The Independent claim he impressed their hierarchy with his clear vision for the team.

Enrique is said to have explained his high-intensity and high-pressing approach, which suits the young squad Boehly and Co have built in recent months. And as a result, he's flown in from Spain to continue the discussions face-to-face.

He's been accompanied by his former Barcelona teammate, Ivan De La Pena, who now works as an agent. Enrique, who most recently managed his national team to a World Cup last 16 exit, has previously been considered by Chelsea in recent years.

But his wage demands, coupled with his lack of English, were cited a reasons to pass him up. However, moneybags Boehly should have no problem meeting his estimations, and he's been working on his comprehension of the language.

He also possesses a better CV than favourite Julian Nagelsmann having lifted the Champions League with Barca in 2015 as part of their treble-winning season.

Enrique has repeatedly expressed an interest in managing in England in the past, but appeared to rule himself out of a Premier League job in the near future when linked with Tottenham last week.

"I would like to go to England to work, but I don't see myself in the Premier League in July," he told La SER Gijon. "I would like to go to a team there that can do important things with and that is very difficult. I would not go to any Premier League team."

It seems the possibility of joining Chelsea has since changed his mind, although the club are insistent they're not close to making a decision.
