Luis Diaz snubbed Man Utd transfer due to Jurgen Klopp "commitment and demand"
Luis Diaz’s father has opened up on how son Luis Diaz came to the decision to sign for Liverpool.
Premier League rivals Manchester United and, in particular, Tottenham were both keen on the 25-year-old.
But Colombia international Diaz opted to make the move to Anfield in the January transfer window.
The winger picked up an assist on his Reds debut in the FA Cup victory over Cardiff and impressed in the Premier League against Leicester.
Spurs were gutted to miss out on Diaz, and United may end up feeling he is one that got away from them in the market too.
Ultimately, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp played a big role in luring the talented attacker to Merseyside.
Discussing the Liverpool deal, Diaz’s father – Luis Manuel Diaz – told Portuguese newspaper A Bola: “The impact was big, many people have been talking about him and his qualities.
“Several clubs tried to sign him, but he wanted Liverpool for what they play and for the manager.
“He sees in Klopp the same commitment and demand he had at FC Porto with [Sergio] Conceição.

Diaz’s father added: “He knows what he wants. He left FC Porto having a great season and he doesn’t see himself doing less at Liverpool.
“He’s aware that he’s in an elite team. A complete club that he has everything and many top players and high performance.
“He’s already shown that he’s at a level that will allow him to help the team.”
Diaz will compete with the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota for a place in Liverpool’s attack.
And he is relishing the big challenge, with his father admitting: “Changes can bring with them advantages and disadvantages.
“He left FC Porto at a very high level but arrived concentrated and focused on doing his job.
“It’s important to have this strong confidence from the coach, the way he was received was important.
“There’s a group of people already around him concerned about his immediate progress. What I know best as a father is that he enters the pitch to give more than what he’s been doing and gives himself to the fullest.”
